It has been a while since I have posted on this blog, but I am going to make it a goal to post often.
I thought I would write about an experience we had this morning. We were doing orange collages since the boys are learning about pumpkins. We were looking through our magazines and catalogs for things that were orange. We had an Oriental Trading catalog that had nothing but Christmas items in it, so there was not much orange, just green and red. Samara was searching through it and she saw that they had a nativity scene in it, selling the costumes. She was so amazed. She brought it to me and exclaimed, "Mom! The stores know about Christmas! They know about Jesus!" Later she did the same with the pictures of the kids dressed like angels. And later still with the pictures of the foam crosses- "Look! They know that Jesus died on the cross!" She cut all those pictures out and put them in a safe place because she wants to hang them on the wall for Christmas. So, if you come to our house during Christmastime and wonder why there are pictures from an Oriental Trading Company catalog hanging on our wall (and according to Samara's intentions, us cuddling around them by the Christmas tree...) you will know why.

I wasn't sure if you had changed your blog address... so it was fun to see it still up :) It's crazy, isn't it? That even a seven-year old picks up on how commercialized Christmas is- well, at least by perceiving that stores don't know the true meaning of Christmas.
That's so cute that she cut out the pictures to decorate the house!
